Just finished report cards. As a public school teacher it is  a required part of the job, but each time I do them I question their value. It seems like a lot of work and effort to produce a document that has a limited ability to enhance learning and a great deal of potential to hurt students. It’s frustrating.

“Studies have shown that the more students are induced to think about what they will get on an assignment, the more their desire to learn evaporates, and, ironically, the less well they do”. Agreed.
